Millikan High School was used to film the feature film American Pie in 1999. You can spot the front entrance, the quad and the 900 building walkway of the campus throughout the film.

Absolutely Long Beach's most beautiful residential neighborhood, full of outstanding historic architecture and a nice quiet "beach" feeling.
  • The Coffee Pot Cafe, Jeremy Michael Brown wrote 10 years ago:
Hoot Owl Cafe is in the shape of an owl. The head rotated; the eyes, made from Buick headlamps, blinked; the sign: Hoot hoot, I scream, used elements of a theater marquee. For over 50 years, Tillie Hattrup ran this L.A.-area refreshment spot designed and built by her husband, Roy in 1926-27. It was demolished in 1979.

The I Scream Ice Cream place was actually an owl, with headlight from a Buick for eyes.

Well, now I can see the inspiration for SimCity 4's elementary schools.
  • Datsun Alley, Corey (guest) wrote 11 years ago:
Gary Paolucci at Datsun Alley scammed me when I paid them $1500 for an Infiniti VH45DE motor. I paid them via PayPal for this motor, they agreed to store it for a few months and then within the agreed period of time they told me the cost of storing it exceeded the value of the motor, so they sold the motor (that I owned) to someone else and refused to refund me. I will revise this review should they ever refund me. Please avoid them at all costs.

  • Queensway Bay Bridge, Mike Smith (guest) wrote 11 years ago:
This bridge was originally named the 'Magnolia Avenue' bridge. It was built (c. 1967) before the arrival of the Queen Mary arrival. I was the person that drew the bridge.

  • 24 Hour Cafe, desu wrote 11 years ago:
The 24 Hour Cafe opened in 1954 and closed in October 2012. Their business license was revoked due to multiple violations including illegal slot machines, "adult entertainment" (their Facebook page shows some sort of duck-faced creatures), hot showers, and overnight truck parking. A shame, really, because I LOVED eating here: simple, good food served in a dingy atmosphere wins me over every time.

Thank You for sharing this film history information about The Balboa Amusement Producing Company (Studios). I had an Elder 1st. Cousin named, Lewis Joseph Cody (aka: Lew Cody), who was a A Stage Actor and Screen Performer that worked at "Balboa Amusement", before joining "Keystone Pictures" with Mack Sennett. It was there that he met Amable Ethelreid Normand (aka: Mable Normand) and became good friends around 1914. In 1926, both Cousin Lew and Mable would marry.
